Dental Implant

Consider Implants? Dental Implants have been available since 1913 when Dr. E.J. Greenfield D.D.S., Wichita Kans., discussed the procedure in his published article “Implantation of Artificial Crown and Bridge Abutments”. In 1948, Dr. Aeron Gurskoff described his first subperiosteal implant. Since 1960's, subperiosteal, blade and modern root form implants were introduced with many thanks to the brilliant minds and works of Dr. Branemark, Dr H. Roberts, Dr. T Driskel, Dr.Linkow, Dr. Hilt Tatum and many others. Their works have paved the way to help patients to have ....teeth. Many of us go through life with lost of one or more teeth due to decay, failure of root canal, vertical root fracture or other inherit hereditary disease. You may be all too familiar with the unpleasant consequences of unable to chew food properly, shifting of teeth, unattractive smile, embarrassment from loose dentures and pain or difficulty with eating.

Several options are available from traditional dentistry to provide replacements for missing teeth such as bridges, removable partial dentures, or full dentures. For many years, dentist’s attempts to replace natural teeth after extraction have met with only a fair measure of success. However, dental Implants are becoming more popular and predictable. They are now an option that must be available to most patients. Implant design, manufacturing, and surgical placement techniques have made survival successful prognosis of implant greater than 97%.

Benefits of Implants:

  • iDental implant will prevent progressive jaw bone atrophy.
  • Dental implant avoids unnecessary aggressive grinding of adjacent tooth structures such as a bridge.
  • Dental Implant is an option to replace teeth that require root canal treatment and retreatment with a poor or fair prognosis outcome.
  • Dental Implant will support your teeth firmly and safely.
  • Dental implants are aesthetically pleasing compare to removable dentures.
  • Dental implants have a proven scientific basis.

Procedure:

  • A dental implant has three sections: a dental implant, an abutment, and a crown.
  • First the titanium dental implant is embedded in your jaw bone. The implant acts as the restorative root section of the tooth. Under regular dental anesthetic, the titanium dental implant is placed in your missing tooth area of your jawbone. This implant may be left untreated for a period of 3-6 months. During this time, the bone will grow around or adjacent to the implant in the process called osseointegration. A temporary crown or removable denture may be utilized during this time to allow for chewing and to preserve the cosmetic appearance.
  • The second step is to attach an abutment to the titanium implant to support the final crown. An impression is made of the abutment.
  • The third step, a final crown is then fabricated by a laboratory or a Milling Center through computer scanning. The final crown is cemented or screwed in. The complete implant will be functional and allowing you to resume normal chewing activities.
